Pastor Cole Mizel
Pastor Cole was born in San Diego, California, into a Christian home with two loving parents, an older sister, and 5 younger brothers. He enjoyed the perks of growing up in such a large family, like sleeping on the top of a triple-bunk-bed, and usually having enough people to field an entire baseball team! Most of all, Cole is grateful to have been raised by a family who loved the LORD, regularly taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and treasured his Holy Word.
In College, Cole earned a bachelor’s degree in business with a psychology minor at Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles. During his senior year, while studying to become an accountant, Cole was elected Student Body President, and as he entered the world in ministry in this role, he began to hear God’s voice to change his career path. As Cole began to increasingly feel an unquenchable soul-thirst for the deeper things of God, he decided to go to seminary.
In 2017, Cole ultimately moved to Illinois to pursue his Master’s of Divinity at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, to grow in his ability to rightly handle the Word of Truth and to train to become a pastor. While working on his degree, in his previous pastoral job at The Orchard EFCA, Cole met his wife, Cayla, while guest preaching at her church. Cayla’s aunt was a greeter that day who played “matchmaker,” playfully forcing the two to meet after Cole’s sermon, and the rest is history - they married in March of 2021. Cayla currently works as an Art Teacher for Kindergarten through High School at a private Christian School in Cary.
In his free time, Cole enjoys reading theology, eating authentic mexican food, all things baseball, and most of all, spending quality time with his wife. As a couple, Cole and Cayla enjoy playing pickleball, racquetball, and all sorts of board games!
